ECT

I had my maintenance ECT last week and I must say that my energy has remained low. On the Scale of 1 to 10, 1 being suicidal and 10 being very well (without veering into mania) I am operating at about 4. It's not disastrous but it's not particularly good either because all I want to do is sleep...

This is where the concept of 'maintenance' comes in - i.e. what do I mean by maintenance?

Following the article that was published in The Daily Mail Good Health section and in which I was interviewed, I have of course been asked a lot of questions about ECT.

Since I have been treated with ECT (Electro-Convulsive Therapy), many people have asked me questions about it. When I have asked them what they imagined it was, I was horrified to discover that most people's imagined version of ECT bore a strong resemblance to execution by electric-chair!  

I feel moved to write this short account of what has happened to me over the past few years.
